Our VISION: To Ensure a Pregnancy-free Adolescence

Nationally:

31% of teenage girls become pregnant before the age of twenty.
Fewer than one-third of teen mothers finish high school.
Two-thirds of all single mothers age 14-25 live in poverty.
Our MISSION: To accomplish our vision by raising awareness, educating youth and the community, supporting local service providers and uniting services and resources

Education and awareness can lower our numbers:

Approximately 1058 teenage girls became pregnant in Montgomery, Autauga, Elmore and Lowndes Counties in 2005.
Teen pregnancy costs these counties over $117 million each year.
Alabama ranks among the top fifteen states in the country for the highest teen pregnancy rate.
Our GOAL: To reduce teen pregnancy in Montgomery, Autauga, Elmore and Lowndes Counties by one-third by 2010

THE GOOD NEWS: Teen Pregnancies have decreased by more than 24% since 1999!

Everyone benefits from reducing teen pregnancy:

Crime rates drop.
Citizens pay fewer taxes.
Alcohol and and drug use among teens decreases.
More teens graduate from high school and join the workforce.
Infant mortality rates drop.
Fewer babies are born with low birth weight.
Fewer children live in poverty.
